Donate to the Balkans 35th Commemoration

We have partnered with the Hamilton Gault Memorial Fund (HGMF). The HGMF was established in 1964 and is a charitable fund associated with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry.  They have agreed to support the Balkans 35th Commemoration by collecting charitable donations on our behalf and issuing tax receipts.

A Message from our Chair, Paul Hale

The Balkans 35th Commemoration is a volunteer Veteran led initiative that requires your support in many ways.  One of these is fundraising.  The events and initiatives that we have planned will not happen if we cannot raise the funds required to support them.

There is no historical record of what Balkan Veterans accomplished and experienced between 1992 to 2004.  Our highest priority is to conduct Oral History Interviews of 1,400  Veterans from the Army, Navy, Airforce, RMCP and other Police forces, Canadian Border Services Agency and Canadian International
Development Agency, including family members.  There were over 60 major deployments to the Balkans, and we need to interview Veterans from each deployment and record their stories.

These stories will provide the basis for Educational and Interactive displays that can be shared with Canadians.  At the same time we will use the information and experiences to create documentaries on specific events in the Balkans and a graphic/historical book.

We anticipate that some may wish to donate a copy of their personal diaries, photos or video taken during their respective deployments.  We plan to hire two archivists to properly catalogue these donations and oral / written histories so that future historians will be able to access the information electronically via a National Repository.

If we raise sufficient funds we intend to provide a subsidy for Veterans returning to the Balkans between June to September 2027.  We also plan to conduct a number of Mental Health discussion groups to help Veterans and to allow them the opportunity to discuss their experiences with fellow Veterans.

Please donate so that we have the funds required to execute our plans.
